View for the Catenary Curve, 1981
Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park, Brooklyn, NY A wood water tank (a known urban structure) was placed in the park, with the entrance
facing north away from the Brooklyn Bridge. Upon entering the structure, one is oriented toward the opening in the wall facing south, revealing the isolated framed image of the bridge and its surrounding skyline. The Brooklyn Bridge represents to me not only a river span, but also the convergence of the natural with the man made form.
"“""…"The river without the bridge or Brooklyn without the bridge would have been unthinkable and year after year people went to it on especially fine days or at moments of personal stress or joy, the way people go to a mountain or walk beside the sea"…"."”"
From "“"The Great Bridge,"”" 1983 David McCullough
